Everglades University is a fairly new, not-for-profit university offering education for adult learners in three locations throughout Florida. The main campus is located in the greater Fort Lauderdale area in Boca Raton, and there are two satellite campuses, one in Altamonte Springs in the Orlando area and one in Sarasota. With degree programs focused specifically on science and business subjects only, Everglades University maintains its goal of offering quality education to students from diverse backgrounds, and offering flexible course schedules and online learning opportunities to provide for the best possibility of student successes. Master’s Degree in Business Administration

The Master in Business Administration (MBA) degree from Everglades University requires completion of 36 credit hours of prescribed courses in various areas of business and can be completed for about $15,400 total. It is designed to provide a broad-based administrative emphasis within an intense program of study, recognizing that today’s business world is ever-changing and that graduates need to be prepared to roll with the changes. Coursework emphasizes decision-making techniques and sound principles as a basis for students’ continual learning and professional development throughout their careers. Students will take courses in such subjects as accounting for decision makers, strategic sales and marketing, finance, and organizational behavior, among others. Florida Atlantic University

College of Business

Florida Atlantic University was one of the first universities in the country to offer only upper-division undergraduate programs and graduate degree programs to less than 1,000 students when it first opened. Today, it caters to more than 30,000 students across ten colleges and within more than 170 degree programs, and it still remains one of the more economically viable options for public higher education in the state of Florida. The College of Business offers interdisciplinary and professional development programs to almost 7,000 students across six departments, including the Management Department that houses the MBA degree described here.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Florida Atlantic University offers several options for the MBA degree, including the Professional MBA, Executive MBA, Online MBA, Flexible MBA, and Sport MBA. In each case, students can come to the Masters program with an undergraduate degree in any discipline and no GMAT or GRE required. Instead, varying degrees of work experience is required, four years for the Professional or Online MBA and five years of managerial or professional experience for the Executive MBA. These first three are intended to be completed through either evening or weekend classes within 23 months. The Flexible MBA allows for part time or full time coursework and may take longer to complete. The Sport MBA is still a business degree but specifically geared toward the sports industry. Florida Gulf Coast University is one of the most recent additions to the state university system, barely more than 20 years old. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The MBA with Florida Gulf Coast University prepares students for leadership roles in a variety of business and public organizations, emphasizing finding solutions to organizational problems through the use of analytical, technical and behavioral tools. Integrated across the curriculum are concepts of leadership and teamwork, entrepreneurial approaches, application of technology, and ethical and global awareness. Students involved in this program will take a combination of foundational courses and core courses totaling 45 credit hours, plus an additional nine hours in a chosen concentration. Students can choose from concentrations in finance, general management, information systems, marketing, or interdisciplinary. The interdisciplinary concentration allows students to choose coursework from two or more of the other concentrations. Students interested in the MBA program at Florida Gulf Coast University can also take this program entirely online. Either way, a total of 54 credit hours are required, with all coursework completed with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Florida International University (FIU)

College of Business

Florida International University is Miami’s first and only public research university, providing postsecondary education for about 50,000 students annually. College of Business

Florida State University is considered one of the nation’s premier research universities, housing sixteen colleges and offering more than 275 degree programs. While traditionally strong in the liberal arts and humanities, FSU is also known for its strong science and business programs. The College of Business is one of the newer colleges at this university and one of the nation’s youngest. However, it is also one of the ten largest business schools in the nation, mainly due to its reputation for excellence and commitment to maintaining this reputation. Students can choose from ten undergraduate major programs, five Masters level programs, and seven doctoral programs, housed within five departments.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Master of Business Administration degree program at FSU is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Management in the College of Business. Students here have several options for pursuing an MBA degree, including an online MBA, an accelerated MBA, and a joint-degree MBA earned in conjunction with a Masters degree in a related discipline, such as social work or law. In addition, students can further customize their standard MBA degree program by choosing coursework in specific concentrations. Regardless of the method for achieving an MBA, all students are required to take 27 credit hours of core courses with the goal of strengthening management skills and fundamentals in areas such as accounting, marketing, operations, and strategies. Beyond these core courses, students can use the remaining 12 credit hours to take courses in a concentration area such as accounting, finance, real estate, marketing, risk management and insurance, and marketing.

Johnson School of Business

Hodges University is a fairly new private university that offers Associates, Bachelors, and Masters degrees. Courses are offered both on campus and online to provide flexible class schedules and meet the needs of as many students as possible. The Johnson School of Business offers programs in the following areas.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Master of Business Administration degree program at Hodges University can be entered into at the beginning of any semester that is convenient for the student. A total of 36 credit hours is required for completion, or a total of 42 credit hours if the student also chooses a concentration for the MBA. Core courses make up 33 of the original 36 credit hours, with the remaining three credit hours for an elective course. Students who choose a concentration area are required to take at least three advanced classes in that concentration, for an additional nine credit hours. With the elective chosen in the concentration area, plus two additional classes, this would bring the total minimum number of required credits to 42, as noted above. Core courses cover such subjects as concepts and theory, professional ethics and social responsibility, legal aspects, and strategic marketing. Concentrations can be taken in accounting, finance, international business, management, or marketing.

Nova Southeastern University

H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship

Nova Southeastern University is a private, not-for-profit, independent research university headquartered in Fort Lauderdale. It offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs through 18 schools and colleges within the university. The H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship is unique among Florida business schools in that it includes entrepreneurship in its name and the corresponding spirit of creative thinking and independent endeavors in its programs. There are more than 6,600 students in business programs at all degree levels, offered at the main campus as well as several satellite locations and online.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship offers several MBA programs with specific focuses on various aspects of business. Students can choose from any one of twelve different MBA degree programs, as well as taking on a joint-degree program if they so choose. These programs require from 40-43 total credit hours, depending upon the focus. Regardless of which focus is chosen, however, all MBA students are required to successfully complete 27 credit hours in the MBA core courses in such subjects as managing organization behavior, legal and ethical responsibilities, managerial finance, managerial marketing, and business modeling. Most programs can be completed in as little as 18 months for students who are able to go to school full-time. MBA programs here are offered in such focus areas as management, global management, human resource management, process improvement, sales management, marketing, and more, each with specific course requirements over and above the core MBA courses.

Palm Beach Atlantic University

Rinker School of Business

Palm Beach Atlantic University is a small, nondenominational Christian university founded in 1968. If offers more than 50 degree programs, including undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Rinker School of Business offers five undergraduate degrees and the MBA program detailed below. In addition, minors are offered in business administration and military science. Students studying here can take advantage of the premier economic location, participating in internships with Fortune 500 companies, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies, many of which will offer employment to these same students following graduation. Smaller class sizes are another plus to considering a smaller school such as Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

This MBA program not only prepares students for positions in today’s global business environment, but it also has its roots in Christian principles and ethics. Students can complete the program in as little as 12 months or as many as 24 months, with most courses meeting just once a week in the evenings, Monday through Thursday during the Fall, Spring, and two Summer semesters. The program requires completion of 36 credit hours in prescribed courses, plus 12 credit hours in foundational courses for students entering the program without first earning an undergraduate degree in business administration. MBA coursework for this degree is heavily focused on managerial components, global business environments, and international business. All coursework must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better for successful completion. In addition, for interested students who can afford the experience, a course of Global Business Environments is offered in the Spring semester that includes an international business trip.

Crummer Graduate School of Business

Rollins is a four-year, independent, coeducational college located in Winter Park, just north of Orlando. It was the first recognized college in Florida and still maintains itself as a strong liberal arts college with selected graduate programs to complement the many undergraduate degrees offered in the arts and sciences. The Crummer Graduate School of Business offers both the MBA degree described below and an executive doctoral degree in business administration for students who have already earned the Masters degree. In addition, graduates of Rollins Collins business programs have access to free select coursework and seminars on an ongoing basis for life.

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The Crummer Graduate School of Business offer three MBA programs designed to assist students in furthering their career goals and gaining a competitive advantage in the business marketplace. The Early Advantage MBA is designed for students who have recently completed undergraduate work or who are career changers. It is a full-time program that can be completed in 16 to 20 months and requires no work experience as a prerequisite. The Professional MBA is designed for working adults who wish to earn the graduate degree while applying their learned skills as they go along. It generally takes 25 to 26 months to complete. The Executive MBA is a much more intensive and comprehensive program designed for mid-level to senior-level professionals. It can be completed in about 16 months and does not require a GMAT score for admission, although admissions are otherwise highly competitive. All three paths prepare students for careers in a competitive global economy.
